Iovino for Congress: Local GOP Chooses Congressional Nominee

Who Shares Roy Moore’s Beliefs

November 11, 2017 – Pittsburgh – The Iovino for Congress campaign released a statement today reacting to the selection of Rick Saccone to be the Republican nominee in the PA-18 special election:

“Today the Republican Party selected State Representative Rick Saccone — Pennsylvania’s version of Roy Moore — as its candidate to replace disgraced GOP Congressman Tim Murphy.  Saccone’s extremist views are out of step with the Southwestern Pennsylvania district.  State Rep. Rick Saccone racked up a record as a Harrisburg insider, voting to cut education funding and opposing legislation that would help working families,” said Matt Merriman-Preston, Campaign Consultant for Iovino for Congress.

“In nominating our candidate next week, the Democratic Party has an opportunity to choose the best match-up, and Pam Iovino is the only candidate running who will defeat Saccone in the Special Election.

“Pam Iovino served 23 years in the Navy, earned the rank of Navy Captain, and was senate-confirmed to Assistant Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Pam has honorably served our country, our sailors, and our veterans. With her campaign focused on affordable healthcare and good jobs with good wages, Pam is the only candidate ready to serve Southwestern Pennsylvania. As our Democratic nominee, we are confident Pam will beat Pennsylvania’s own Roy Moore,” Merriman-Preston concluded.
